Hope thrives where light lands and light lands where we cultivate a space for love to grow.
Reminiscing on my days spent in South Africa, I can remember the way her hands gripped mine. The sunlight reflected off of her tight curls and highlighted the freckles on her cheeks. It was as if she was trying grasp a hold of love, begging me to stay and to show her that hope was more then a whisper of wind. In this moment all I could do was be fully present, showing her that love isn’t divided in its attention towards her heart. I knew I couldn’t stay, that I would be flying back home soon.
Yet God gently reminded me that I could plant seeds of love and hope ,making space for light to invade so that others could come along and tend to her heart.
Often times we create barriers for love, restrictions that define the way that we see people. Barriers that provide distance between our lives and the hearts of those in need. We prioritize ourselves or those close to us, often times dismissing certain people. Whether it is intentional or not, we push them to the side and return to our daily life.
The thing is, it is easier most of the time to keep love contained within our time frames and worldly thinking. Yet love is freedom and who can contain freedom within four walls?
Imagine a beautiful monarch butterfly floating through the sky, fluttering and flying it will occasionally land, but it never stays for long. Perhaps a flower may become home for a brief time, yet it isn’t made to be stationary but to spread its wings and fly.
Our job isn’t to save people, but rather to come alongside them and to fight for their growth and to encourage them to fly in freedom.
We cry out for open doors, but often times are hesitant to walk through them. For it requires action to step into the unknown and to let go of the place where we feel comfortable. Our barriers define who we love and when we love them. The open doors seem scary, for we’ve grown used to life behind our walls. I fear we have created a formula for love and within that there is little room for growth and redemption to take root.
Yet god never once calls us to live a life of comfortability, but one where we are rooted in him and able to go forth as the hands and feet of love.
A love that inspires hearts to beat freely as true purpose is awakened within.
What if our willingness to walk through the doors God opens is the very thing that will cause his light to shine in a place that has only ever known darkness? Most of the time this requires being people that go against the road paved by normality and choosing to live our lives in surrender to Gods guidance.
It’s time to let go of our barriers as we invite love to break down our walls, for revival starts with me and with you.
It starts with he decision to be fully present and to go deep in discovering who God is. It starts with letting God break our walls down and choosing to let his perfect love uproot any fears they have been planted.
Hope thrives when we let God guide us, shining His light for all to see.
” for you are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot he hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everybody in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
